Ötztal Highlights

One of the main reasons why people stay at our hotel in Sautens is our beautiful scenery. Sautens is one of the few villages in the Ötztal Valley that is located away from the busy road. Many of our guests like to take advantage of the wide range of sports activities offered in our area. Others prefer to go on a romantic walk through the lush meadows and blooming orchards or just sit on a bench by a creek and daydream as they listen to the soothing sound of the water. All of that is part of a relaxing summer holiday in Ötztal.

Some highlights in Ötztal

Stuiben Falls

We highly recommend hiking up to the Stuiben Falls, Tyrol’s highest waterfalls. The Stuiben Falls are located in Umhausen and are 165 m (541 feet) high. There is no better place to experience the impressive force of the water element in Ötztal.

Weller bridge in Oetz in the Ötztal

Weller Bridge near Oetz

Between the villages of Ötz and Habichen, the water tumbles down into the Ötztaler Ache River. This is a spot where you will not only see but also actually feel the force of water.

Aqua Dome - Tirol Therme Längenfeld

Aqua Dome

Tyrol’s only thermal spa is located only 15 minutes by car from our hotel. It offers over 3,000 m2 (32,000 sq. ft.) of wellness, spa and relaxation. Aqua Dome has sulfur and brine pools and a large children’s area with a cool water slide and Noah’s Alpine Ark.

James Bond filming location in the Ötztal - IceQ

IceQ & Gaislachkogl

IceQ is a futuristic restaurant on 3,200 meters (10,500 feet) that combines modern architecture with culinary highlights by international award-winning chefs. Even the James Bond film production team chose IceQ as one of their locations for their latest film Spectre.

Museum at Timmelsjoch in the Ötztal

Timmelsjoch saddle and museum

The Timmelsjoch saddle connects the Ötztal Valley with South Tyrol, the most northern province of Italy. The impressive mountain road leading up to the saddle has always attracted visitors from near and far. A museum was recently opened at Timmelsjoch, providing insights into the historical construction of the mountain road as well as the local history of transportation and smuggling.

Innsbruck and its old town

Innsbruck

Innsbruck, the capital of the Alps, is only a 30-minute drive from our hotel. You will enjoy wandering around Innsbruck’s charming old town with its many shops and sights such as the Golden Roof, the Hofburg Palace, the Amras Castle, the Cathedral of St. James, the old Stadtturm Tower and many museums. Other interesting places in and around Innsbruck are the Bergisel Ski Jump, the Alpenzoo and the ride up to Hungerburg or Seegrube with the Nordketten Cable Railways.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds

Swarovski Crystal Worlds

A 40-minute drive east will take you to the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens. This magical place is a dream-like orchestration of millions of crystals by Andre Heller. You will quickly be immersed in a world of mist and magic.

Piburger See Ötztal

Piburger See Lake

The Piburger See is a true gem for swimming, fishing, boating and simple relaxation.

Mountaineering village Vent and Rofenhöfe

Traditional village of Vent

At the very end of the Ötztal Valley there is a small village by the name of Vent. Time seems to move at a slower pace here. The Rofenhöfe farmhouses are beautiful remnants of the history of this traditional mountain village that has always been a starting point for mountaineering adventures. Whether you come here for mountaineering or not, you better not be afraid of heights if you want to cross the nearby rope bridge. ;-)

There are many other places of interest in Ötztal and Tyrol.

Please inquire at the reception and we will happily provide you with information and recommendations on where to go.
